Summer Reading Information and Book List

Dear Parents,

All students entering 1st through 8th grade for the 2010-2011 school year have required reading and a book report to complete over the summer.



Fun Fest
May 4, 2010
Thanks to our Home-School parents we had a great fun fest. Everyone really enjoyed the day. The children had a blast with face painting, putt-putt golf, basketball, space walk and more. Thanks again to all our parents who helped to make this another special day.

"My Buddy and Me"
March 19, 2010

The 8th grade students partnered with the Preppies and spent the day together. They did posh painting on a mug, coloring, play-time, reading, puzzles and other fun activities together. They had lunch under the pavilion. The Preppies even got to spend time in the 8th grade classes. It was a great experience for all the students.

 



Blessing and Dedication of the Middle School Building
February 2, 2010
On January 29,2010, Archbishop Gregory Aymond blessed the new middle school building. The sixth, seventh and eighth grade students attended a prayer service held in church.This was followed by a blessing and tour of the new facility. Many parents, friend, salesians, and political official were in attendance.

1st Grade - Learns About the Weather
January 22, 2010
Meteorologist Derek Kevra from Channel 4 came to teach the first grade class about the weather. He talked about how the weather changes from season to season. The students were very interested and asked lots of questions.

8th Grade - Christmas Mass
January 8, 2010
The 8th graders put on a beautiful mass for the Christmas Season. Thanks to Fr. Jon for adding his special touches to the mass.

D.A.R.E. Graduation
December 21, 2009
Fifth grade completed their D.A.R.E.(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. This is a highly acclaimed program that gives kids the skills they need to avoid involvement in drugs, gangs and violence. This is a officer-led series of classroom lessons.   

K-9 Dogs Teach Us a Thing or Two

As part of "Red Ribbon Week" the Jefferson Parish K-9 Unit came to school to teach the students about drug awareness.  


The Fire Department visits St. Rosalie
November 4, 2009
Students received some helpful safety lessons from the firemen of the  Marrero-Harvey Volunteer Fire Department. They taught them all about the stop, drop, and round procedure. The students were able to hear the sirens, see the equipment and go inside the fire truck.

Pre-K has a Pumpkin Patch
November 2, 2009
Pre-K had their annual "Pumpkin Patch". Each student chose their very own pumpkin and had their picture taken. They painted and decorated their pumpkins. There was face painting, story time and goody bags for all.
